Cheap car rental to take you where you want to go

In a way, the best answer if you want to get away from it all with toddlers in tow is to rent an RV. It may guzzle gas but it really does give you a home away from home, remembering of course, that you have to be able to transport all you need to and from home to the pick-up point. The only other option is to rent the RV from a company in your area and park it outside your home for the loading and unloading. Although it may not be the easiest way to start and finish the break, it does give you absolutely everything you need in place. Check out whether there are any cheap rental RVs in your local pick-up points. Then think about the cost of running with poor gas economy and carrying the gas for cooking. Although the ideal is always stopping at formal sites where you can plug into the electricity supply, onboard batteries do give you the flexibility to pull off the road and find somewhere quiet to rest up for the night.

If an RV is too much to handle, check through the makes and models available as a cheap car rental, and head for the camping grounds. Well, that may be dependent on the weather. If it’s not going to be too hot without air-conditioning and you think rain and wind is going to hold off, then tents may be a good option. Look for sites with shallow pools for paddling and other facilities that will entertain toddlers.

Alternatively think about B&Bs. There’s a lot to be said for taking a bigger room in someone’s home. You should talk with the owners about your toddlers and ask whether the home is friendly. Some B&Bs are set up in homes with lots of tempting stuff on display at all the wrong heights. If your pair are let loose, there could be angry reactions from the owners. So think about what you may be moving into and what you need to take with you. If the contents of your cheap car rental can quickly and easily be unloaded and reloaded, it may be better to opt for B&Bs with fairly empty rooms.
